erratic idling

I have a question about my idling problems....
Normally, when we start the engine cold in the morning, the engine idles up to 1800 rpm shortly and when it warms up a bit, then it goes back to 750-900 rpm, right? My '97 CRV just stays there at 1800 rpm even when the engine is already hot and even sometimes when I am already driving. It happens to me erratically without any pattern, sometimes it happens even when the vehicle has already been driven. Is it a throttle body sensor problem or the accelerator cable being stuck that I could easily fix or do I have to bring it do the dealer? Check engine light does not come on, so I have no clue what's wrong........help......

I didn't get the chance to update this problem which I already fixed for reference to other readers. I replaced the IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE located at the intake manifold. It has three bolts and hoses that be careful, spews out coolant for lubrication. Ever since I replaced this, never I had the same problem again. Bought it online at Rhode Island Honda for about $130.00. Hope this update helps.
