Disk brake pads

I've been reading about the ABS sucking and I agree. I've had a few scares myself.

But my main problem is that I have one brake pad that does not mate up with the rotor well and it wears out quickly. The top of the inside pad on the driver side front of my '99 1/2 ton Suburban sits about 1/4" above the rotor. This pad is worn out long before it's mate which is still at least 1/4" thick. The passenger side pads are still at least 1/2" thick. There's no wear indicator on the inside pads so I get no warning. It just starts grinding. I usually replace them myself but I have had them done professionally with the same problem. They're lucky to last 6 months. Any idea's?

That pad should never be above the rotor, check out what is happening there, is the other side the same? As for the uneven wear, binding sliders can cause this or the caliper dragging from the piston binding or a brake hose partially collapsed not allowing full retraction.
