i have a 89 jeep wrangler yj and the problem is when i turn on my headlights it maxs out my gas gauge and stays maxed out until i turn lights off and shuts my radio off for about 15 sec and then it comes back on, same thing when i step on my brake pedal it does the same thing now really strange when i am driving and let off the gas it turns off radio then i comes back on. there is no wiring to gas pedal has to be loose wire of some sort need to know where to look.

My best guess would be that you'll have to remove the dash and hunt down the wire that is either shorting or crossing exposed ends. It'll be in the area near pedals if they are affecting the problem, and also look around headlight switch area. It's basically just hunting down which wire is crossing where. Good luck.

Side note: Easiest place to start is look at where all affected areas would come together or their wiring would meet up.
