foot on clutch

I'm new to driving standard, and was wondering whether you rest your heel on the floorboard when you engage the clutch (better stability) or whether your whole foot is in the air. I've tried resting my heel but it seems impossible to press in the clutch (requires a lot of force) and the way the pedal depresses makes it seem like it was never meant to be done this way. I know, stupid question but i just need to know.
thanks

i hover my foot over the clutch (actually on clutch but weightlessly never slip or drag your clutch its a no no)
if im cruising theres a dead pedal (the fake pedal on the floor on the far left (not all cars have them))
but how it works is how ever you are comffy its up to you......
hope you lioke standard as many of us have come to love

i dont really notice anymore what i do. about the only thing i know that i do is i dont really ever touch the floorboard ever with my left foot, its either on the dead pedal, the clutch pedal, or in mid air.

I guess I'm weird...I always have my heel on the floor. I slide the heel forward while keeping my toes down to depress and I don't even MOVE my heel when I'm letting the clutch out. I'm strange I guess.......

I never used the dead pedal, my legs are so long that they'd be as far forward as possible when I got the chance, but for the most part, my foot would be resting on the clutch (not engaged but just resting)

It's not good to rest your foot on the clutch pedal. Whether you know it or not, you're still putting a bit of pressure on it most of the time. This can wear out your clutch in a hurry.

I am like rockerX - Long legged (6'6" tall) but when I drive a manuel, I use the upper two-thirds of the foot to fully compress the pedal at a stop - If I am fixing to drag in an race I watch the lights and allow my heel to rest on the floor board and raise the pedal a little just before catch, and the drop at light change. Best thing is to practice on a back street to get your comfort position - Everyones Different - What works for me or XrockerX might be different for you. Good Luck

Well yea I pretty much did that Medic, but my heel would keep gettin' caught up on the floormat and I wouldn't fully disengage the clutch... I learned how to deal with it, but I kinda rested my heal on the floor with the toe on the clutch pedal, not puttin' any presure on it, but when I was on the highway, my feet were both as far back as they could go, with the cruise control in the ON position

mm, that too, the floormats in my 88 are crappy, just like strips of fabric over some rubbery stuff so they get all folded up back there and cause a huge headache..
