Srt-4 vs S2K

I was leaving work with my friend when a riced out S2K(neons, misc. badges, track number on windows, etc.) decides to leave the parking lot too. We both turned on to the intersection and cruising around 45 when he decides to go. When we started he was about 1 car in front of me and my car was still warming up so max boost was only 8 psi. He dropped it from 4th to 3rd but I decided just to keep it in 4th and see what I could get from that. He immedietaly pulled on me but by about 55 we were even and by about 70 I was about 1.5-2 cars ahead. We had to shut-down there because of a stop light ahead and some traffic.
Honestly I didn't think he would keep up as much as he did. He had exhaust and intake and I think he said he had a header also. I'm curious, though, of how it would be if I had been running full boost rather than just the 8psi.

running a turbo'd car, or any car for that matter while cold = very bad

It wasn't completly cold. It had been on for a couple mins. in the parking lot and then a couple mins. at the light. The gauge showed 145 degrees...and when fully warmed up the car is usually about 180. So it wasn't that cold. I know running a car hard when cold is bad that's why we cruised for a couple mins. before time :loser:

Well I think you didn't murder him cause you failed to downshift, but good kill nonetheless. I have yet to race an S2000, but from what i've seen at the track from the 5-6 of them that i've seen, I shouldn't waste the gas.

good kill on the s2 hezzy.........but yes running your car hard before it hits at least 180 is not good on any turbo car let alone our cars.....thats why our pcm regulates the boost to 8psi.......

Just because the water temperature reaches the designated temp, doesn't mean the rest of the motor is up to temp...
Takes a while for the block, head(s), and gaskets to all heat up... usually 10 minutes or so. :p

the reason i own the srt now is because i totaled the s2000 and the z wasnt worth what it cost...and i just needed more money to spend etc. but i still wanted to stay in racing so i got a cheaper car that has a lot of potential.

I should've just said a boost leak caused me to run 8 psi:eek:

Yeah, pretty much any emission of retardedness towards your vehicle will get you reemed around it...it's what we do.
Nice kill though. The S2K is no slouch, but it's not the straight line brute that a lot of people think it is. Hell, I used to think the things HAD to be nutty fast. :shakehead
