Number Matching Question

Does anyone know whether Ford had the number matching with the engines in the 1972 Thunderbird.

I think they do not but was just wondering. I could not find much but probably wouldn't till the engine is out.

The reason for asking is I have the option of having the original 460ci engine rebuilt or take a crate 460 he has in his shop.
