key stuck in ignition and car wont shift in drive

I recently repaired my heater core and had to take apart the whole dash. After I put the new heater core in I was putting everthing back together and came to a problem. I put the key in the ignition and crunked the car up and when I tried to put the car in drive it wouldnt go. Then I tried to take the key out but it wont go all the way back to allow me too. I am having a bad day. I thought I did the hard work but now I am stuck.

Not sure what year you have, or if you have the shifter on the tree or in a console, but there's an electric solenoid that locks the shifter until the brake pedal is depressed. Check those circuits to make sure the solenoid is activating properly. The reason you can't remove the key is probably the shift linkage is out of adjustment slightly - just as if it's still in gear - you can't remove the key. Try that.

ok this might sound crazy but I did some searching about the solenoid but how do I get to it and then how would I go about checking it. sorry for sounding like i dont know anything but I'm learning

u got adequate battery voltage?

I have a 95 s-10 style blazer, 4 door, 2wd. and I have currently removed the steering wheel and I am now trying to figure out why the key is stuck in the ignition and it will crank up but wont shift in any other gear(stays in Park). If you know anything HELP please.
