88 325e overheating

When I'm driving on the open Highway the temperature is find but the temperature gauge
can go pass the 3/4 mark when I'm in stop and go traffic. In April 02 I replace my Timing
belt and water pump then shortly after that the car began to overheat. In May I replace 4
coolant hoses but no luck so I replace the thermostat and the thermostat housing still no
luck.Last week I replace the Clutch Fan and guess what no change the Radiator is less than 4
years old and I'm sure that's not it. Do anyone have any suggestion on what I should try
next before I go mad.

if u changed the thermostat and its housing the cause of the car overheating is probably the fan itself. Connect the fan to your battery (disconnect the fan motor's circutry from your car first) and see if it runs. If not the motor is probably burned. Replacing it isn't too difficult. If the fan does run check the voltage from the wires that supply power from you battery. If not that than check the voltage over the wires leading to and from the thermo. Good luck!

unfortunately i cant help you on this one... all i can say is that it seems to be a feature on 80's BMW's to overheat in traffic. it used to happen to ours and we never managed to get it fixed, ended up selling it... fine car despite that; it would have been nice to keep it so if you manage to find a way to fix it needless to say it would be great
