Stuck shock?

I've got a '96 Aurora, and I think I've got a bad shock. When I jack the car up (right rear tire), the tire leaves the ground almost as soon as I start jacking the car up. I'm hoping that this is a sign of a bad shock, rather than other suspension issues. What's the best way to tell if it's a jammed shock, or if it's another part of the suspension?

If it were me, I'd jack it up and try to pull it down and see if the shock gives. The wheel/shock assembly also rotates around the rear A-Arm...or whatever it's called for this car(maybe trailing arm). I'd also spray some type of lube and make sure this isn't hanging up. Likely that the weight of the wheel/tire would be much more that would cause this to hang up. Finally, its pretty easy to swap out rear shocks. They arent that expensive either. Buy a new set for $80(not dealer of course..that would be much more $$$) and put them in.

Replaced the rear shocks today. It was definately a stuck shock. The rubber "boot" had bunched up on one of the shocks, causing it to not move at all either way, no matter how much force was applied.

Two new shocks and an hour later, everythings working fine!

good for you. i really have never heard of that condition. What kind of shock did you put in?

I put in the MA822's that I've seen several people comment on. So far they seem to work great.
