sudden rapid overheating HELP

ok, so last night i started my car, left in running for 5-7 minutes with the heat on full blast, then start my journey down the road, i go about 2 miles and suddenly the temp rises alot, and doesn't stop!!! it was past the H!!! its never had temp problems before. i dont know what happened!! any ideas?? i'd like to know why it did this suddenly or any possible reasons, before i take it to a professional. thanx a bunch!! :)

I agree. You describe the classic symptoms.

T-stats do not last forever. It's common for people to replace these little darlings occasionally, as a prevetive measure, if the cooling system is being serviced, such as replacing hoses, a water pump, etc.
