My 1999 Accord V6 has a starting problem after it sits for a while, engine just turns over & over, then I turn it off, pump gas pedal a few times & it starts fine & runs fine. Has done that 4 times now, checked for a fuel filter, but car really doesn't hace one, has a large contraption that looks like it fits into tank, is that correct? Has anyone had this problem? Thanks, Steve

Of course the car has a fuel filter, I don't know of a car that doesn't have one. The large contraption that fits into the tank would be the fuel pump, fuel guage sending unit and filter sock. There are several possibilities. The fuel pressure could be bleeding off, the fuel pump could be on its way out or there could be a problem in the fuel pump circuit. Try keeping your foot off the gas pedal and turning the key from the on possition to the off position several times before you turn it to start and see if that works. That will narrow it down a little. The quickest way to get it fixed would be to take it to your ASE certified mechanic. It should not take long for an ASE Master Tech to diagnose it. Don't expect to get it for free though, he has thousands of dollars worth of tools necessary for him to do his job and lots of training. Good Luck.

I live in Sicily & there is no ASE Certified Mech's, this job will have to be done by me. A parts picture on the internet showed the filter as being very large white jug, but I couldn't find out where it is located??
