stock

hi i got a problem hope u all can help me in this i have a subraru wrx sti and i do not want to spray it because the stock is blue in colour so can i still make it shining by using clear coat, compound and wax thks.

The Tamiya kit? Yeah, they did go through a lot of trouble to match the WR Blue in the plastic color. You can give it a nice shine just by rubbing it out with Tamiya rubbing compound. Scrub it with a toothbrush and dishsoap first, then polish with compound. You can add wax afterwards, but it probably won't do much to improve the appearence.

By the way, you'll get much better milage around here if you use proper capitalization and abandon chatboard shorthand. Most of us here are adults- and even if you're not, if you act like one, we'll treat you like one. Act like less, and you run the risk of being blown off....

Im curious about this too. Could you sand the body with 2000 grit, clear and polish? Clear would be Testors Custom Laqcuer System 2 part from the can. Sorry to hijack the thread.

That'll do nicely. You'll definately have a shine after that.

You could sand it and clear coat it, but if your not using clear to protect paint, why bother with it? Polished plastic will be just as shiney. I'd leave everything I could unsanded. Mold lines I'd deal with using sanding sticks, and then a Squadron type polishing stick.

Polished plastic can be given a blazing shine, and it's much easier than polishing paint or clearcoat.

some tamiya kits stock colors are nice and gloossy already...show some pics :)
