2000 Venture Air Bag Light

I have a 2000 Venture. The air bag light stay on sometime n sometime it work ok. Any ideal what is the problem is? It does it for 2 or 3 day then work ok for a week or two then start all over again.Any help?????

There are a couple of plugs under the front seat. One is to the seat belt, the other is for the air bag.
I pumped mine with a map I tossed uder the seat and it caused the light to come on.
Check your plugs.

The airbag connectors under the driver seat may get loosen, squeeze them with your finger to tighten. Look for the yellow color connectors,Iwas told they are for airbags.

You can check the code at you local Auto zone Store if you have one. My light does the same thing and it is the loop sensor in the front bumper

My Venture used to do it after I took it through the car wash. The touchless pressure washes. It would stay on for a couple of days then go off again. I assumed it was some sensor in the front end but never did anything about it. Probably would end up costing $500+ to fix. Hasn't happened again for a long time. I tried looking for and disconnecting and reconnecting wires at the time and it did no good.

Also remember to check the plugs under the passenger seat, they both have the plugs.

I have a 2002 Venture and mine stays on at times as well it seems to do so only when it is cold out once the van is warmed off if i turn it off and restart it again then it will go out

Before I took delivery of my used 2000 the detail shop shampooed the carpets and got them *real* wet and two days later the air bag light came on due to a moist module located under the carpet at the front left of the front passenger seat. You have to take the seat out to get to it and the dealer paid for it. GM dealer can pull up error codes and tell if that's what the problem is or what else could be making the light come on. Must be a chronic problem because when the Tech pulled the error code he immediately asked me if I had spilled anything in the front or got the carpet wet in front becasue the error code revealed low resistance in the module which indicated it got wet, or real moist.

The light was on when I first looked at mine and was something to do with the tensioner, they agreed to fix it and did. Then a couple days later the wet/damp module made it come on again and they fixed it again.

In another thread a lady said her ABS light came on wet it was wet. In this thread we have a light on after using the automatic car wash and my airbag light on due to moisture from shampooing the carpets. Hmmmm . . . Is there a common denominator here, namely; moisture-wet-rain? Sort'a sounds like the modules or sensors they're using are extremely sensitive to moisture and that ain't good a'tall. I reckon the saving grace is the ability of Mr Goodwrench to pull error codes that what the problem is and where.

For GM to pull up error codes the light has to be on because in some cases it won't "store" error codes, or at least, it didn't on mine. When your light comes on go immediately to Mr Goodwrench and ask them to pull the error codes and it will show what is wrong.
