2003 Check Engine Light on...

I have a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire, and the check engine light has turned on. I checked the manual and said that it could be an unsecure gas cap (which it wasn't.) When I got my oil changed at an oil change establishment, I asked the attendant to check to see if he can see why the light has turned on. He checked a manual and said that it has to do with a sensor with the Emissions system. I admit, I'm clueless when it comes to cars. Is this a serious, costly problem to fix, and should I leave my car sitting in the driveway...or am I safe to drive my car without doing further damage? I have only had the car for a little over a year, and bought it used, and has 62,000 miles on it. Any assistance would be helpful!!!!

well not all the times that a check engine is on means that is something very bad

get a scanner tool for an OBDII and check for codes

depending the code it will tekll u whats wrong with it

dont go to an oil change shop go to a place that especializes in that

or get u a scanner and retrive the codes

in that way u can be sure whats wrong

also if ur car doesnt feel like stalling or anything or even overheatting

u can keep using it untill is fixed

lemme know how u doing with it good luck

Thanks...I'm probably just going to get it serviced to double check. I am just wondering how much its going to cost to repair a sensor...

You don't "repair" a sensor, you replace them. More than likely its an O2 sensor which is under $10 in parts, but its labor that'd give you trouble with the cost.
