Q: Heating up paints

Hi there, read in one of your threads that you heat up your enamel paints in warm water to make them suitable for brush painting. I'm just wondering if this method will work with tamiya acrylics? or any ideas on how to brush paint with tamiya acrylics? i always have brush strokes when I try and brush paint tamiya acrylics. Thanks in advance!

Sorry for all the questions everyone, trying to pick up as much tips as I can so I don't ruin anymore models.

Yes... warm up ANY paint in hot water before you brush or spray it. Warm paint flows much better then room temp or cold paint does. Letting the bottles or cans sit in the sun for a while works also. I use Plastikote or Dupli-Color primers and warming them up really helps flow out. Putting the parts under a warm light bulb before and after painting also helps the paint flow as it is curing. Try it, you will see a difference...
Another trick to help bottle enamels flow is to mix in a little enamel retarder before painting. This slows down the drying a bit so the paint can flow and level out more.

Astroracer has summed it all up for you.

My other advice would be to only use enamels. I find that they take longer to dry and it gives you more time to work with the paint if brushing.

It's quite simple really: Tamiya acrylics were made with airbrushing in mind, not brush painting. Try enamel paints for brush painting or a different brand of acrylic.
