here she is diecast fan 84. stupid exoticar didn't even send out a tracking number so this just surprisingly arrived. this is my first autoart that i am very dissapointed with. yup all those rumors about the horrible quality on this car are true.
here's a list:
dogleg hinges
rear doors don't open
no carpet
no seatbelts (not even molded in with the seats)
the switches inside the car havn't been detailed(my maisto cls has that)
no grains on the wood(my maisto cls has that)
barely any headlight detail
no metal break discs
no metal transfer badging on the trunk. only the benz star is on the trunk and is painted like maisto's cars
i mean from autoart this is totally what you wouldn't expect. but the exterior for the most part is autoart quality but this whole package i would say is not worth $100.
my plans for this car are to take it apart and detail the car. in a foreign magazine from germany or england they had an article on the new s-class and they said that in the future for the trim would be optional black piano laquer so i might repaint the wood black still not sure. you guys tell me what you think of the laquer idea and what you guys think of the car and why autoart did this? when i saw the people in china making this car in the car and driver magazine a couple months ago i was like wow that car looks detailed. i have to get that. now i mean there isn't even any carpet. and does anyone know where i can get grey felt from (for carpet on this car)?

Wow, that's bad.
I think the black wood would be a good idea.
As for the grey felt, I've heard you can get them from a crraft store or the crafts section at Wal-Mart...

So this is not an updated version I hoped it would be after all! The exterior still looks good but the interior....ugh....and the sealed rear doors really turn me away from buying this one. I guess I'll be waiting for the 04' s class. Great review by the way!

WOW. WTF? Why AA did that to S500?
I was wating for this new BENZ.
But after I've seeing what AA did to it , which is nothing special My MAISTO S55 looks battter.
I'm not paying $100 for that, and why is it $100 anyway. AA is like no more then $65-75. Anyway I'm not paing even that for that car.
I love S class. I love BENZ'S.
But I'm gonna wate on till MAISTO will make one or some one else,I'll pay like $20-25 ,I'll repaint if I have to ,I'll do some custom job inside and out and I'm shure that it will look 200% batter then this AA NEW S500.

yeah it's sad. i noticed on the bottom of my S550 is says autoart contemporary. does you guyses gs430 say that or is it a millenium edition or what? yeah so far my plans is just to do detailing on the interior and i was thinking about calling autoart and see if i could order the lowenhart wheels from them that is used on the maybach 57. do you think i can do that?
hey dubsrus2 how long will it take you to do that project? few years? lol. how is that s-class lorinser coming along. havn't seen that in a while. i want to see results man!
another thing: on the wood, i have fake wood that is a sticker and i can cut it to the shape i want or do you think i should do black laquer?

Oh man my lorinser still at the same stage and like i said before my biggest problem is : i have no time and i m working on about 14 1/18 cars at the same time. plus my custom 1/24 NYPD models, some of you saw them, i know without pics it's just talk.
i posted my bmw 645 project befor, pics were taken with my cell.ph.cam. so they weren't that good, i will take pics of all of my projects so you all can see what im working on and i have couple of cars that r finished. like i said without pics it's just me talking no proof but i m gonna try to do it as soon as i can. and the good reason for is that this forum is comming back to life.
Now speaking about AA.
its looks to me that when they were $50-65 they did a better job.
and if you telling me that on maybach they did the same kind of job as a s550,then i'd better spend money on hot wheels maybach cause it's like 4 times less money, even its a bit out of scale.
and about AA S550 i think you should buy MAISTO S55 or S500 and just use it for parts on s550, like seat belts and thing like that.
and about you calling AA you can try but i don't think they would send it to u you. i think i saw them on ebay, but that was a couple of months ago.
Now question.
will maisto make 1/18 new benz s500?
:smokin:

no i'm not saying maybach is the same quality. i said that my maybach costs less and the interior quality is much better. i don't think that maisto is gonna make the new s-class. btw there is no more s500. it is now a s550. the displacement is bumped up from 5.0 to 5.5. thus calling it 550.

No it's not a millenium edition, the box for mine says it's 'Autoart Performance'. As for modifying your new s class, I'd say give it a try but no need to spend too much on this project as there might be another version of this model come out later.
Your Maybach cost less? Ebay?

I think the quality of Aa models in general are actually a little better (except this one of course) than when they were $50-65. But yeah, with their price increase (all Aa models will cost at least $70-80), we were definitely getting better deals if we take this into account.
As for the Maybach, it's definitely NOT like this one, in fact I think it's one of the best models they ever released (it's the best Aa in my collection, at least)!!! So again, I would recommend you getting Aa Maybach over hotwheels or anything else out there if you ever want to buy this model because the quality is that good!

If you're talking about those small paint jars then you can get them either at Hobby Town USA or a Wal Mart.

yeah i know that was my intention. my question was which one should i get that would have a nice shiney finish? btw hobbes sorry i havn't gotten a pic of the wood sticker. it's at my grandma's and that's where i do all my modding and i havn't been there in a couple of days. so next time i go i'll try to snap a shot. i also have carbon fiber sticker but that's not approprite for this. i use cf for air boxes.

and rear a/c vent (sorry hard to spot the a/c vent in this pic)

correction there are front seat belts. they were molded into the b pillars.
so far i've painted the black part on the front seat belts and buckles. i've installed maisto seat belts for the rear and have painted small details on the door handle in the back. i have painted the ignition silver for the keyless go effect. i have also made a set of 4 floormats made out of greyish white suede. sorry i don't have any pics of the mats because when i brought my camera over to my grandma's i forgot to stick the memory card back in.
btw the pics of the command clickwheel and rear a/c vents were before i have done any mods to the car. so don't look for the painted and installed seatbelts and suede floormats in those pics.

I like that wood. Like you said the center console looks difficult but a little trial and error wouldn't hurt unless you don't have that much wood left.
Been a while since I've played GT4 but I do think the SL is an unlockable product...

i think i'm going to do the black laquer because the rear storage area between the seats is the sectional door sort of like a sectional garage door and i think it would just be near imposible to get that to look right. and on the command click wheel area if i got the wood on the top i would lose all of those buttons and i wanted to paint those silver to show it off. don't worry about the wood. i have a ton of it left enough on this sheet that two midsize diecast cars can fit on top of it.

well my maybach 62 my mom brought back from a germany benz dealer. i forgot how much she said it was but i bought my maybach 57 w/ lowenharts for 75 on ebay.
yeah i'm not going to do an overhall. just subtle mods.
Man I never get tired of looking at your Maybach group shot!!! Those two look great together. I really like that black one with those lowenhart wheels, actually I know it's available on ebay for $80 now but..... I already have a Maybach 57 in a different color so I probably won't get it afterall :(
and yeah a little mods would be enough as I don't think too much can be done to improve that model (unless you want to cut the doors open )......hopefully the millenium edition does come out in the future then I'll probably get it.....

there is this asian mall here in seattle where a ranch 99 market is inside. i got the wood from a small little tuner shop in that mall. the store sells such products as mufflers, tuner bumpers, and cell phone holders that mount to the a/c vent. i'll try to get a website for you.

I was feeling cheap then so I downloaded Sreif PhotoPlus 6.0 and worked from there. Just a basic chop and resize.
As for the image viewing, there will be some times where you won't see it at times (it's been done to me plenty of times. Just put it back on and give it time.

no offense to anyone on this forum or anything but i hate it when people put amg on the decklid of thier car and it isn't an amg. such as "c320 amg" it just drives me nuts. one time i saw a cl500 and they put cl55 amg on the back. (you could tell the difference with the body kit and wheels)
Gafoto

It's hard to top the accord I saw today. The only changes to the car were fog lights and a larger spoiler. On the back they had slapped all the badges they knew of so the car was a Honda Accord SIR Mugen Type-R. I haven't heard of that one, have you?

hey gafoto i don't know about your accord. i mean cl500 with nothing done to it man! not even rims. why would yo do that to your car? really? i mean if someone in a real cl55 came up to you and asked you to race you would be left in the dust! it's like shooting your foot. wait if you still don't think that tops off your accord i remember this one time i saw a kia sedona w/ a benz star on the grille (benz star from either an cl or sl w/ distronic so it is a plastic round plate) and the plastic plate covered the kia logo. they took off all of the badging on the back and put the benz star on the trunk as well.... if i only had a camera phone back then.

well i did some of my black laquer painting on the front two door panels and steering wheel. i have also started to detail the stalks ont he steering column. i have also detailed the headlights. the headlights were just molded and then chromed. so i decided to paint the lenses. thee door panels still needs chrom trim and silver paint on the electric seat and doorpull buttons. all of this was painted w/ a tamiya fine brush and model masters gloss black acrylic. thank you guys so much at car modeling forum. the black acrylic looks really nice.

nosliw2004

oh i thought you said you bought it at wal mart. o well. and no i didn't rip the doors open. i took my exacto knife and tried to pry off the door panel on the front passenger and broke my blade after i got a little gap. then i tood a flat headed screw driver and pried it off. but on the driver door panel i couldn't get it open so i just unscrewed the whole door to paint the door panel. and yup that's the steering wheel. originoly i didn't have the black paint on it so i decided to give it the wood sterering wheel opiton. i think it looks rather decent.
well upadate: currently have no pics. ill probably take pictured during half time of the seahawks game. GO SEAHAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well back to the topic i have gotten the "black laquer" covering all of the old brown paint and have painted black in the lines of the doorpanes where things open such as the little armrest or gap right abover the speaker black to make it look more realistic. i believe this type of paining is called "backwashing" but i am not sure. correct me if i am wrong. what i have left to do is some chrome trim on the interior and some silver paint detailing. i will first need to get silver acrylic paint. in my opinion this maisto *cough cough* i mean aa is starting to look more like an aa. yeah so expect pics tomorrow.
tell me if it looks like laquer. thanks. and damn that fine tipped tamiya brush works well! thanks tamiya!

i believe that on page 3 i stated that i put in dark white or light grey suede floormats because the suede is too thick to do all of the curves and whatnot so i decided to just do floormats. i've been looking for grey valvet for like 5 years now and nothing. only this thick grew fabric thing i was able to get a hold of. the suede isn't too bad it's like a real expensive set of floormats or something. like i said expect pics tomorrow night (pacific time) or a little earlier.
