Reading Codes in a 95 Aurora...

Well after having the SES light come on and Transmission jumping in gear I took it to our friendly AutoZone store. They hook up a scan tool and it did not want to link. The scan tool kept on saying read error (Link Error). He gave me a little key that is made to go in that plug and jump wire the SES light to make it shoot out the code. He showed me where to stick the key in the OBD connecter and the SES didn't do nothing. He also said the book said something about jumping No. 5 and No. 6 pin the ones in the middle on longer row. I did both w/ no luck. Has anyone out there found out some way to do this manually or with multimeter like most OBD I systems? I have already put so much money into the car and still I am having difficulties. Thanks in Advance!

i'm not sure, but i know you can buy a cable for the obd II scanner that will allow you to scan 95' and older vehicles.i believe the cost is around $35.00 dollars.this is something i considered, since i also have a 95'..

The 95 Aur is a cross over year. OBDI system with OBDII 16 pen connector.Autozone has the Super Scanner by Actron, but its for sell ($279.00).They wont scan your car with it.They use the little one.We have have about ten Advance auto parts here. Two of them use the Super Sanner(Big one).As for reading the codes with the key, Im pretty sure no.Go to www.v8mr2.com/reference/transaxle4.pdf .Its an in detail diagnostic for the 4t80-e tranny.
Having trouble with my tranny to.Whats yours doing exactly.Maybe I can tell you what I found out so far.

Nvmyvettes, One day when i was driving i notice the SES light came on and as soon as this SES came on you could notice a jolt everytime the car shifted while driving. All the gears work because I drove it on the hwy to make sure couple of nights ago. The kick down cable works when I let the pedal meet the carpet and the car seems to have way more power then it has ever had. I like the extra horse power but not the jolts. When it is in Park or Neautral going to Reverse/Drive you will get a horrible slam. Reverse slams so hard it feels like you just got hit in the rear end by a 18-wheeler. I haven't been driving it much besides last night because I went to AutoZone for the free scan w/ no luck. I will have to try Advance. We have three in the local area. I might get lucky. I just mainly push it when I need to back out of parking spot because of Reverse. At least the cars don't weight alot...HAHAHA. I will be checking out that website you poste there Nvmyvettes. Thanks.

I was tring to figure out what was wrong with my Aur and I had a used Pcm out of cadillac. Some caddys use the same PCM.I changed it and it did the same thing as yours.I read some where if you change the proms in them(Take the one out of the Aurora Pcm, put it in the caddy Pcm it would quit slamming gears. It worked. The prom in a computer tells it what kind of car it is. therfore tells it how to shift and when.So just maybe you might have a bad Pcm or just the prom in it.Dont know for sure though.

Something else you might want to try is disconect your negative battery cable for about 15 min. This resets the computer

Well I went to Advance Auto Parts here in town to get them to hook it up to their scan tool. The problem I had was with Tranmission kicking jolting into gears while driving and slaming from (P or N) to (R or D)...Reverse the worst. When they first did it I got the following codes:
------------------------------
Diag. Trouble Codes

History Code 60
Cruise Engaged With
Car Not In Drive

History Code P0117
Q D S M #3 Output
Open or Shorted

History Code 84
Ign System Problem
Too Few 24x Sensor
Reference Pulses

Current Code 84
Ign System Problem
Too Few 24x Sensor
Reference Pulses
---------------------------------
Had Advance Auto erase code in Computer. Car drove like new again until I get about five miles down the road and car jolted through gears while downshifting and upshifting. I took it back and the following code was read again.
--------------------------------
Current Code 84
Ign System Problem
Too Few 24x Sensor
Reference Pulses
--------------------------------
I had them look for this code in the Code book they had for this car or other that apply. This Code was not found. They have seem to have Code 83 and 85...but no 84. What up with this? Please Help. Thanks in Advance!!!
