Hello all, i need your help. I'm trying to make a chart of how McLaren prices have progressed over the years and will try to keep it updated as new McLarens show up. So, i'm asking everyone here (and other forums) for some help (of course, some of my own info will be used too) to tell me prices they've heard for specific McLarens.
I would like:
1) Asking price. Specific to $100,000. Ex. 1.2mil (Required if selling price is unknown)
2) Selling Price. Specific to $100,000. Ex. 1.2mil (Required if Asking price is not known)
3) Date sold. Needs to be at least specific to a quarter of a year. ex. 4th Quarter of 2005.
4) Identifying info for car. Chassis number, colour, owner etc
5) Where car was for sale
6) Mileage (Not Required)
7) Condition (Not Required)
I'm HOPING that eventually i should be able to collect enough info to make a fairly accurate chart of how McLaren prices have done and where they are heading.
Thanks in advance for any help
Chris

Well, going off the top of my head... (and not in any particular order)
Price when new (need to get it converted + "inflated" into today's money)
027R's Current asking price
The asking price of the blue car T&C have
007's when it went to auction (both prices. 1st time didn't sell)
014's "asking" price, too high tho, same with 028
022 when it went to Wyclef (if he paid 1.8 like he said, he's nuts)
053's asking price from when it was on mobile.de recently
069 when it was in the US
011 when it was at Christies
073 when it was at Christies
038's asking price (When Dan was selling it)
What i'm more worried about is exactly when these cars sold
Also, if anyone wants to contact me privatley, thats fine. I will not reveal who told me the info or the chassis # if you would not like me to.

Don't know the selling prices, but 14R had asking 1.1 million Euro.
16R currently for sale asking 1.16 million Euro. (MM)
23R asking 980,000 Euro (KS)
11R asking 1.35 million Euro (KS)
07R asking 1.5969 million Euro (still on Mobile.de)
White ZAZ F1 (053 I think) asking 1.69 million Euro (still on Mobile.de)
014 at SVAG asking $1.8mm based on Ebay reply
Not sure about 24R's (at T/C) or 27R's prices. There are too many road cars possibly for sale that I have no clue about prices (Auto-Salon-Singen, silver one in Japan, possibly #065 in Singapore, that dark blue one in Germany, etc).
Edit: Not dark blue in Germany (Schaefer Automobile, mclarenf1.de), appears to be dark grey. Ad says 1994 model with 29,200 KM asking 1.05 million Euro.
Also, I thought 24R was in the BMW Fina livery wearing the #42. That car appeared in TVR Freak's gallery of McLaren's old facility, also at the BMW musuem, and at the Goodwood festival of speed. Now the car wears the EMI livery at Taylor and Crawley. Are these two separate cars, a repaint over the Fina colors with newer pictures at T/C, or just file photos on T/C's site?
Edit #2: Just checked, and #051 (green at KS) was asking 1.25 million Euro (I have the picture of a Japanese poster of its specs and it says 100mm Yen so that might be around the purchase price).
Mini Magic, if you plan to also adjust for inflation, you need to use the inflation rate only for the country at which the car is for sale. Don't know if it matters much, but just thought I'd bring it up.

I have some old info that when carclassic.com posted 07R's price, it was $1.68 million (notice it's Dollars and not Euros). It's still on carclassic.com, but now with POA. Carclassic's other ad at the time with the 740hp (iirc) F1 roadcar was for sale, they were asking $1,606,000. When 16R (without the repaint) was on QV500, it was $1.3 million.

May I please ask, does anyone know the location of the "Veuve Chequot" Longtail Road Car?
(the car plated "CIA 4" is same colour as the 3 Orange LM's and the original XP1LM = I call it by its name> Papaya Orange, some call it Historic Orange)
Is it still located at Cars International? (and have they got it onsite)
Does anyone know if there are any McLarens for sale in the UK? or the locations of any in England?

I have entered all the info i have. 24 entries and have based most off "asking price" since those are a lot easier to find out and in my opinion still reflect a fairly good indicator of how the values have changed even though it is just the asking price

Yes, I can help with some magazine clips of early second hand prices where prices actually dropped :uhoh: Problem is I.ll have to search through lots of mags/clippings to find them all. Give me some time to find all the content and then I,ll post it up.
The lowest price for an F1 GTR ,was of 27R at the Goodwood auction way back (not sure of year) please correct me if I am wrong, but the figure £250,000 comes to mind. I know it was ridiculously cheap at the time.

Anyone know how much 1,850,000 SFr in 2001 is in 2009 money?
At year-end 2001, SF100 were worth a bit less than $60. SF1.85m would have been $1.108m.
US CPI 2001-2009 increased about 22%, although any such calculation requires a huge number of assumptions and some philosophical opinions.
Using the US CPI and '01 year-end FX, today's equivalent is $1.35m.
On the other hand, if you had kept the money in SF, the Swiss CPI-equivalent 2001-09 was roughly 8%, taking SF1.85m to almost exactly SF2.0m. Based on today's FX, that is about $1.90m.
As the market driving F1 prices is largely $ based, $1.35m is probably the number you want.

Here's what i have so far. Obviously, i need more data to add to smooth it out but its a start. Its obviously not 100% accurate because of inflation and the like but i think its off to a good start
The more data i get, the better. Things like 007s sale in Monaco completely screw up the average. I have 2 prices of an F1 before that and both are above 1.1 mil. Then 007 comes along and sells for 800k. It happens again later with SVAG's 1.9mil asking price for 028 :banghead:
I will be making a separate chart for GTR's

I have it on VERY good authority (name available via PM if requested,fo validation) that Road F1's are unlikely to be sourced for UNDER 2 Million Pounds (3.5 million USD). This info came from a source extremely close to - actually IN- Woking, about 2 months back.
With the prices of F1's going orbital in the past few months, I wonder whether the successful bidder on the Park Lane F1 had the surname Dennis?

The reports I have heard are that #065 was sold to an American. Not sure if that is true as I don't have a name or other secondary confirmation yet.
Perhaps the under-bidder who helped to drive the price skyward was the name you mention? :dunno:
I know of two F1s for sale at the moment that aren't really publicized sales. One is available for a few hundred thousand less than $3M USD and the other for a couple hundred thousand more than that. The lower priced F1 of the pair is a US legal car, with moderate use and has been well cared for. The higher priced car is supposedly still on delivery mileage and in Japan.

#036 had the asking price up when it was on T&C. Can't remember off the top of my head, but I do have it stored in a flashdrive unless you already have it.
Which cars are for sale at the moment? I can only think of 13R and 16R up for sale again. 28R is probably still for sale since the price was so high last time I checked.

Hello,
I discussed with a Zonda F, 288 GTO, Miura SVJ spider owner on saturday and he talks me on two interesting things :
1) he heard a transaction in Europe less than two years ago at 1.8M€, what is it ?
2) a garage which would sell a F1 about two years ago did make a try by a japaneese buyer and a fire occured ! The car doesn't drive often before. What is it ?
