Hi, about an hour ago i went out to the car (`97 2.0 saloon) and when i turned it on the was a very strong smell of fuel coming throught the vents so i had a look under the bonnet and the pressure regulator(at the left hand side of the injection rail) was leaking quite badly!!!!! needless to say i immediatly switched the car off. Now, i know its not a big job to change which i am doing tomorow but is this a simple case of a faulty component or indicative of a larger problem? sorry but i`m a bit ignorant when it comes to fuel injection cos all my other cars have carbed lumpsand i`m a bit dissapointed as ive only had the car for a month. could anyone give me any advice or tips!

also does anyone know if this is a common problem and how much a new regulator is? it also "hunts" a little at idle (950-100 rpm) , according to the haynes manual this is a bit high anyway should be about 850 ish. the throttle response is also not graet but not bad. could this have something to do with the pressure regulator ? any help would be appreciated

my only advice and experience is to keep a spare as i have now changed 2 in the last 6 months ,also watch out for the sensor which is also on that rail ive changed to,there electrics are not to clever. rob
