About two yrs ago my abs light came on in my 98 s-10 4x4. I checked the fuse and it was blown. I replaced it and the brake lights would stay on and not shut off. I pulled the fuse and the brake lights went off but the abs light came on. Also my cruise quit working at the same time. I since then unpluged it in the engine compartment so the light would go off. I'm looking to sell it and need to fix these things. Is it possible that these two things are tied together or just a funny thing they happen at the same time. I was just wondering if anyone has a idea what either of these things could be.
thanks,

sounds like the BOO(brake on off) switch mounted to the pedal arm. this will keep cruise from working as when you press the brake the cruise is commanded off. not sure how it is connected to the ABS except to tell it that the brakes are being applied.
another possibility is the vehicle speed sensor....does the speedo work? This wouldn't keep the brake lights on....but could also be due to the abs and cruise control.

I know someone who's speed sensor was bad but the Speedometer still worked, it just was 5mph over. Go to AutoZone or another parts detailer and purchase the Haynes manual and find how to retrieve your ABS codes, that will fix your problem more likely than not.
