Does anyone know how to reset the 1998 malibu computer without taking it to the shop. Dsiconnecting the battery for 10 - 15 minutes does not do the trick?

Try disconnecting the negative terminal only. Leave it for 20 minutes and connect it again. It may work. good luck. Does anyone have any other ideas?

When a misfire condition occurs in the engine or the engine produces more emissions than it is supposed to the check engine light comes on. Several factors can cause this. A common problem is the evap system where there can be a gasoline leak somewhere in the system. Once the check engine light comes on, it will stay on until the code is cleared and computer reset. A dealer or automotive repair shop can clear the code thus turning off the check engine light however they will charge you for this. my question to everyone is how can I reset the computer myself without having to take it to the dealer?
