Better Brake Rotors ?

I have a 1995 Beretta coupe with the 3.1 V-6 . The car presently has 83,000 mi.. Bought this car new,and have had very few problems .....but >> This thing eats up brake rotors at the rate of once a year/12K mi.
It's my wife's daily driver,and yes she does have sort of a heavy foot on the brake pedal. My questions are> 1. Is this common for these glorified go-kart rotors? 2. I have tried at least 5 types/grades of pads with no better rotor life. 3. I generally buy the rotors from autozone,and get the "midgrade" material. (not the cheapies)
So.....has anyone found an upgrade that gives better service life?
And I don't mean buying the Baer brand ,cross drilled/slotted rotors @ $150.00 each !! Thanks for any feedback !!

Berettas and Corsicas both can be hard on pads and rotors as the rear brakes are pretty much weak. The best thing to do is get the rear shoes adjusted from time to time and be sure to properly maintain the calipers with proper grease etc. If they are just wearing thin that is one thing, if they are damaged then you could have a sticky caliper perhaps. Generally you won't get a lot of miles out of the front pads and rotors but it depends on a lot of things such as driving habits, where you live etc. Our Corsica we have now and the berettas we have owned since moving here generally get about 15-20K on the pads, and the rotors can go 30-40K buy turning them but I find it is as cheap to replace with the cheaper rotors from Advance (13-15 bucks) than have the old ones turned.

OK,I can't just let this one go and not reply...first off ,I'm talking about FRONT brakes only! The rears are not,and have not been a problem. (by the way the rears are self adjusting)Point #2..... It think I can recognoize a stuck caliper after repairing autos/trucks as a career of 20 plus years. Thirdly.There is no one in their right mind that would turn a stock rotor (not in this area) If the rotor has 10K plus on it....they are junk ! They warp so badly,you will never get them to clean up and still be within spec.
Anyway,I should have waited a few days before even posting this question. We have decided to give the car to our son(after brake repairs) and my wife is ordering one of those screwed -up Toyota
Prius Hybrids after seeing this latest scam/increase in fuel prices!
I have always owned all GM cars. This Prius won't be serviced here
anytime soon !!

No problem on the ranting, these cars will make you do that for sure. My point was that the front brakes have a lot more pressure on them - period, as the rear ones do little work by comparison, and thus wear out faster. As for self adjusting, well, I have had little luck with ANY of the three similar cars (91 corsica, 94 Beretta, 89 Beretta) doing this right, so I have to ajust them myself from time to time. Shoot, my 91 Corsica(bought this car new, now has 181K) can get well over 100K on a set of rear shoes as they simply do not wear as much. We live on a big hill and go thru brakes failry quickly. I would (AND DO) replace the pads with top notch pads, and the cheapest rotors I can get from Advance, and go on. Have not had one turned in 7 years. As to the caliper, I have no way to know who I am talking to. A lot of folks that come here have never changed their oil before let alone look under their car, so I only mentioned that since you said the car eats up rotors. No offense meant, just hard to know who is on the other end! The bottom line is, yes these cars are rough on front brakes, best thing to help them is periodically adjusting the rears so they do some work, and put up with them. Better rotors won't do much good in my opinion. Self adjusters on these cars simply do not work well. Still these are darn good cars.
