brakes

okay here is my problem. i have been smelling what i think is brake fluid.
have spongy brakes, just replaced front pads. smell is coming from driver side. when i push the brakes in while the van is parked at an idle, the idle starts to go up. my friend seems to think the booster is bad. how do you diagnose this.

The increase in RPM is normal
