Check Engine Light

I just signed up for this forum thingy so please bear with me if I don't do this correctly.
I have run out of options and this is basically a desperate call for help.
Approx. 4 weeks ago, I purchased an OPTIMUM USED 2001 Chev.Blazer/4WD from a reputable dealership. It has just hit the 80K mark in KM's. One day after the purchase, the CHECK ENGINE light comes on. To make a long, stressful story as short as I can, they have replaced all sensors plus a module and still no success. The dealership, as well as General Motors has run out of ideas as to what else to do to rectify the problem. Just today, I got word that General Motors has decided that the only other course of action is to have the engine "torn down" and go over it piece by piece....literally! I'm almost on the verge of having a stroke about this and can't believe for the life of me that this is happening. I just know that down the road, I'm going to end up with more problems than I bargained for. Has anybody EVER come across this crazy problem before? Any suggestions/comments are appreciated......I'm at my wits end. Thanks........

Hello and welcome to the forums.
The Check engine light is the car's way of telling you that it has detected something that needs your attention. There are literally thousands of things that it could be. To simplify things, the car's computer will give you a trouble code to give you an idea of what's wrong. Autozone and some Advance Autos will hook up a scanner and read the codes for free. Go get the codes read, write them down, and then come back and post them so we can help you. Don't listen to the advice given at the parts stores...... those guys are cashiers, not mechanics/technicians. I've seen a lot of people waste money on unnecessary repairs due to bad advice given by them.

If a dealership mechanic told me he would have to disassemble my entire motor to diagnoise it, I would ask him for my keys and get the hell out of there. Like Blazee said, these cars and trucks today are computerized and have their own onboard diagnostic capabilities. It would help the people help you out, it you can tell them what type of problems you are having, to the best of your abilities. I don't claim to be an ASE certified
mechanic, but I have been working on cars all my life. I have read a lot of peoples complaints they are having with their cars and the answers that people like Blazee, Rlith,Over Board Project, and many others have given advice to, and let me tell you from experience, they all are very knowledgeable about these cars. I would definately take their advise, because they all have helped me and many others here on this forum. My hats off to each and every one of these guys in this forum who have helped all of us. If you are having multiple problems with your car, I would suspect one thing that is in relation to all of the sensors, the computer, but don't just go out and buy one yet. Give us more details on your problems and let this forum do what it was designed to do. There are many others in here that I didn't mention as being a great help, I just mention the name of the one I remembered off the top of my head. Sorry if I didn't mention your name. I certainly
don't want to discredit any of you. You all know who you are and my hats off to you and many thanks from me and many others you all have help.
Thanks

Here is what has taken place now.
This has now gone into the hands of the President of the dealership who has claimed they have been looking for a replacement (permanent one) vehicle. I have already been on the hunt myself and knew what they were going to come up with anyways.....NOTHING! So, all we want from them is to refund the purchase amount and we walk away free to pursue out lives. But no, they don't want it like that. They obviously have no morals. They won't be happy until I end up in the hospital due to the stress that mounts every day about this. In the meantime, I'm paying off the loan, insurance, and missing work. The name of the dealership?
McNaught Pontiac
President: Gord Mcnaught
Word of mouth is the best, "free" advertising you can get, and guess what kind of advertising they're going to get?
NEVER BUY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!!!!!!

Could you let us know what type aof problems your truck is having.
Also, you may want to look up the number to GM, and complain to them about this dealer. Also, look up the lemon law in your state and file a complaint with them.
Thanks
