Read over a few posts, and see many others whose Expeditions have become "suddenly possessed." While I have not contacted Ford about this, I read that many others have, & received no help. I agree with others that this should be a recall issue, or at the very least, one that Ford takes seriously, & is willing to offer SOME resolution for. Here's my story:
I have a 1999 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer. After a wk of rain, & not driving for a few days, went to the store. When I got there, turned key to OFF & screamed when a few panel lights went on & air BLASTED out of the front console!! Turned vehicle on & off, made sure all air & defrost was off, & everytime, got blasted again. Could not turn off air with controls. Also noted the click sound under the dash that was mentioned by others. HAD to turn the vehicle on to get air off! Had to disconnect battery when I got home. Problem became intermittent the next day, then disappeared.
Have also had a problem with windshield wipers SUDDENLY going on ... controls have no affect. This is a year round, rain-or-shine event.
This subject reminded me that when it rains, the floor depressions in the back cargo area, where the third seat attaches, get filled with water. That's not standard, is it? LOL!
Any comments or advice are appreciated. I think we SHOULD contact Ford as a group, and demand SOME action!
