ahhh.... why me ??

just when i was just about done with my civic hatch back, i was trying to paint on the moldings using masking tape. i couldnt find the tamiya masking tape so i ended up buying " PACTRA" brand masking tape . that tape onestly sucks !!!! paint seaped right under the tape. now i have to remove the paint and repaint the whole car . i used rustoleum enamel paint . what can i use to remove the paint ? :confused: :disappoin

Soak It In A Tub Of Simple Green Or Castrol Super Clean.
If The Paint Is Still "Fresh"* It Will Come Off Overnight.

next time you paint a body with enamel, paint the window trim with acrylic, that way you can just wash of the acrylic with rubbing alcohol if you screw up.

has anyone used the "PACTRA" brand masking tape ? i purchased it at a hobby shop. if so , does it even work well or is it just me ?

Is it even masking tape? Pactra makes RC parts and paints, so I always thought it was tape that you used to make stipes on your RC plane, like the vinyl pinstriping on modern cars.

Also, if you can't find Tami tape, just go the hardware store and get some 3M. I've never used Tamiya's tape, it's way too expensive and I get results from 3M's masking tape. Don't get the painter's blue tape (too low tack) or the gray industrial tape (too high tack), get the regular old red kind that you can even find at the grocery store. Burnish it and you're good to go.

Here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=430765) is a car I did where I masked off the rub strips (front and rear - the sides were a separate part) with 3M tape.

Also, remember to spray a thin coat of clear over the seam before spraying so that anything that bleeds will be invisible. If spray clear that is like the paint I am spraying over - lacquer clear under lacquer for two tones and acryl clear under acryl black for rub strips and window rubbers, for example.

well u know something, i actually wasnt spraying the moldings on , i was brushing them on with testors enamels . i think it was just too runny .
i recently purchased an air brush so that will be my next attempt ( as soon as i get all that damn paint off that car and respray the new pain on) .

i actually have some green masking tape wich is made by 3m too . will that work as well ? i just wasnt sure if that would of made a clean edge .
