I have a 96 Prelude with 225/35/18's on it and i was wondering how wide should i get if i were to get some new ones?

Any tire site should tell you the recommend tire sizes. www.tirerack.com

I should have worded that diffrent. I mean what woulda good width be for a prelude? is wider better, or skinny or should i keep em at 225?

the wider a tire is the more grip it will have. so technically the wider a tire is the better itll hook up. the flip side to a wider tire is that it will have more drag, which isnt a big deal since its not an open wheel car, and the larger you go the more rotating mass your wheel will have making it slower. the 225 should be wide enough on your prelude unless youre planning to make into a dragster.

FYI, the 235 on the tire refers to the hight of the sidewall and the 35 refers to the width of the tread pattern. Just my 2cents.

:nono:

225/35/18... the 225 is the section width measured in mm. the 35 is the aspect ratio of sidewall height vs section width. the 18 is the size wheel it will fit.

Not necessarily. Its all in the design and compound of the tire. I bet my 175 advans stick more than your wide street tire. But for the most part you’re right

thats true, its all relative. a good tire design will out perform a poor wider tire. so the best thing to do when buying a tire is to find out which design will give the best grip with desired comfort. never go by straight numbers with tires, a person will give a much better review of the tire.

what ill limit ur tire width is ur rim width. u dont wana go too wide on a skinny rims unless ur running r-compound.
