Hi,
I've got a '98 plymouth grand voyager and the check engine light has been on for a few years now, and nothing seems to be wrong with the car. Even when i go to the mechanic or the dealer they can't seem to figure out what the problem is.
I heard that you can get the light blinking by turning the key 3 times, and it can be translated into a code, or it may reset the system. I was wondering where i can find these codes, and how exactly do i get the codes showing.

Here is a link to codes: http://www.troublecodes.net/chrysler/95-98_20253335.shtml
another link for codes: http://www.allpar.com/fix/2001-codes.pdf
I had a link for process to acquire the codes...I believe its turn the key to the ON [not start] position, then to OFF, back to ON again 3 times real fast. Your code will present itself in the odometer, or it will flash code using lights on the dash.

Turning the key on in the fashion you discuss will give you basic codes but if you want to find out what actually is going on you need to have the computer scanned with a scan tool. This will give you some specific codes that will point you in the direction you need to go to fix the problem. You really should get this fixed as you could be losing fuel mileage and even cause other issues down the road that will cost you a lot more money.

AutoZone offers free check. Also, you may want to disconnect the battery for a while and then reconnect the cable. This way it will get rid of the code from the memory if nothing is wrong with the car.
