well last night i noticed my exhaust was smoking a bit, didnt think much of it since it was rather cold last night, but today it was warm and started billowing smoke, so i check out the smell and sure enough, Blown Head Gasket. another one. the only thing i can think of as to why would be when my thermostat went out a couple weeks ago, it started to overheat a bit, but i figured i caught it in time. i figured wrong, obviously. i only needed it to last a few more months while i saved up for the B16 swap.. :banghead: :crying:

Did you check the head and blocks for warpage and cracks? did you replace (i mean put back in) the dowels that keep the head and block aligned properly? Did you replace the head bolts? All those should have been done if any werent

also are you sure you torqued the head studs correctly and in the correct pattern? what gasket did you use?

i did that last time, it got progressively worse until it was no longer driveable without overheating.

and i used the dealer OEM head gasket last time and i followed the Chilton's guide on how to do it, my buddy is a mechanic and hes gonna replace the gasket, send the head out to check for cracks, remove my A/C system (which doesnt work), and check a couple other little problems for me for like 500

if you drove the car with a bad headgasket for an extended time amount of time and it over heated several times it could have a warped head. definetly get it straight edged to check for warpage and flowbench it to check for cracks.

From your sig, I see that you have another car. Just drive that around until you can afford the B16 swap. Don't spend any more money on this old motor, just start selling your parts now, and get the new engine.

we use magnaflux for checking for cracks. wish we had a damn flowbench though for other purposes.
