Gude/Bullfrog Camshaft

I have a 99 dx hatchback and was looking for a good camshaft. The annoying part is that my engine (d16y7) has no vtec on it. So far I have only found Gude (Bullfrog) to be the only maker that makes one for my car. Does anyone have any of their products on their cars? How well do they perfom? Are there any other makers that make a camshaft for my car?

So far I have only heard of Gude when it comes to cams for the D16. As far as performance gains, I really couldn't tell you, but if you are looking to change your cam, it does not appear we have much choice outside of Gude. Of course, I could be very wrong, someone correct me here if thats the case.

Custom grinds are an option as well, but dont forget they can compromise durbalitiy in a way that billet cams would not.

Gude makes the best Shit for SOHCs ..........PERIOD

They are a good company..
What other mods do you have on your engine?

A cam alone will give you some extra ponies but not as much as when you combine them with the right air/fuel mixture. A more agressive cam will need an upgrade in Air and Fuel for it to produce but If you are nearlly stock you will see only little gains, pobably like a 5-6 hp increase..
Now, when you do I/H/E + a FPR and you add the Cam and Sprocket you will see increases of 12+hp from the cam.. Gude claims a 25 hp increase with their cams but oviously that is if you have alot done to your car.So with your basic I/H/E you could see prolly 10-15 hp increase from the CAM.
A good ignition such as MSD will also help you a lil.

Thanks for all the replies! I was wondering if anyone has one in their car? How were the results? Also, I was looking at the gude.com website and saw that they make only one camshaft for my car. Is this camshaft suitable for a daily driven street car? I heard from my friends that some makers have different camshafts (street, drag strip, racing) and some have a real bad idle or can kill your car really quickly. Is the bullfrog one suitable for a daily driven street car?

I bought a Zex and a Skunk2 Cam gear for my D16Y8 but I haven't installed it yet. Will go in either this weekend or next depending on when my new timing belt/water pump come in... When it's done I'll post more info...

for the price of a cam you can get a vtec head for your engine. do this first, then get mods.

for cams check out: skunk2, crower, zex, and web cams
