DRL removal

im getting a pair of headlight blackouts and obviously itd be to stupid to have my headlights on with the covers on itd defy the point so i was curious how i can safely make it so my headlights arent always on. but still come one when it gets to dark. does anyone know how.

I have a 98 GTP and I just removed a fuse in the glove box. I can't remember right off which one it is though. It'll say DRL on the fuse diagram. I just turn my lights on when I need them. Saves on the Silverstars I use.

correct me if im wrong but the fuse for the DRL's is also connected to other things in the car wont taking the fuse out be a bad thing

I heard a female caller on CarTalk with a Blazer that turned off the DRL's when she used the turn signal to change lanes. Her problem was that amorous truck drivers thought she was flashing them. Their solution was to remove the DRL light bulbs. They are seperate from the headlights.

I have had my car since '99 and I pulled the fuse in the glove box and everything works fine. The headlights are on a different curcuit or fuse. I will get you the fuse number tomorrow.

The fuse is the bottom right hand corner of the fuse box per the diagram in your manual. The only other thing it causes (to my knowledge) is the auto headlights will not work. They kick in when it starts to get dark. You can see your interior lights like the stereo and others dim like it wants to turn them on but they do not come on unless you manually turn them on.
