Problem w/83 325i

I'm looking at buying a 1983 325i. The problem is that it is really hard to start (need a squirt of ether/starting fluid) and then got to keep the revs up till it warms up and then it still idles hi. Wondering how easy this will be to fix before I buy the car. I've never had a BMW before so I don't know much about them. Just got an Opel (My first German car and first FI car) and other than that have mostly had old fords ('66 Fairlane, '65 Econoline, and 47 Ford p/u streetrod with carbs).
