So has anyone used a Weapon R Air Intake? From the pictures on various places, including the Weapon R website, it seems that its a short ram intake, and ive heard it can be fitted with a hose or something of that sort. From ebay, it seems that there are two versions of the weapon r...

I would like to know from more experienced people, which one would be the best bet, and if these are nominally the same. Ive also seen a Weapon R Air Intake box, which Ive never really seen before. I need to replace that shitty stock bulky intake nonetheless. If you have better recommendations for CAIs, please by all means let me know. (AEM, Injen, etc.?) Im willing to spend around 60 - 150.

intakes are your own choice people have their own opinion. But for the most part you are not going to REALLY gain hp. Don't get one that goes into your fender. It's a waste of money and may hurt you more than help.
Send what you will and look around. from what i've heard they are all mostly good

Dont get it, will get no hp increase and if i were you i wouldnt put it on the TB either because its close to the exhaust manifold so hp gain. If i were you i would just take air box out and connect the intake to the intake plumbing.

How so by chance? Ive had just about every variation from ghetto to CAI and out of all of them I like my CAI the best. If by hurt more then help you are talking about water thats not really an issue if you have any sort of brains and get a bypass. I have no inner fender splash gaurds and if you have seen my car you would know I have alot of ports that are right by the filter and have yet to have any issuse what so ever. I have also noticed the most gains not only with the butt dyno but also my track slips with the CAI.

IDK if the intake is close to the exhaust on Cavaliers, but i noticed a gain on my GSR when i put the intake on the TB....i'll notice more when i get my new IM.
Thanks for taking my avatar....... :disappoin

Frankly I would never put a performance filter directly onto the tb on any car. Thats just asking for hydro lock.
And Schister66 clean and re-oil that damn filter. That thing is a freakin mess. No wonder you dont notice a difference.

Lol, what if i were to just build my own CAI. Ive heard of this done before. Im assuming I could get the parts from like Menards or something? and get a performance filter, and whatnot? in the meantime, ive seen a BOMZ air intake, for like only 30 or so bucks, but ive heard its a pain in the ass to put in.

ive also been wondering how i would put in the CAI if i got one. I have the 2200SFI stock intake, which is a huge plastic container with a huge hose and whatnot. Would I just disconnect that huge hose, and start the pipe at the main base of the stock intake, or would I just get rid of the whole thing, and connect it directly? (removing the stock intake, and possibly the stock air filter?) idk, im pretty new to this, but it seems to be getting on my urge to learn more about this shit.

Its close to the exhaust manifold and its the same thing on the GSR if thats the pic of it up there. Im not sure but the gain you got was prob from the intake itself not necessairly the position of it.
about the avatar sorry I didnt know untill after it was on.

thats exactly what i did, i bought 2 air intakes off ebay for $20 a piece (plus $20 shipping) and now i have a true cold air intake for $80, i have NEVER seen a true cold air intake for ANY car that cheap,

ya just forget spending the big money go get a cone filter and put it as close to the trhottle body as you can but if you have the 96 z24 i no it works best if you get rid of all the rubber hosing and leave the plastic cover over the throttle body and let it be right on the end of the hard plastic so its inbetween that and the battery

Dude you'd have to be a fucking moron to hydrolock that, but i see why you wouldn't do it....the filter is like 2.5 feet of the ground.....and the filter is dark because it is just darker....it was re-oiled and i'm not going to give some bs claim that i gained all this power. I did notice a difference, but it wasn't huge. By the way, who cares what the filter looks like....as long as im faster than you, i don't really give a shit what it looks like under the hood....

oooo buddy. As far as intake gains i have had one that went into the fender. I had to clean the filter more and it was just a pain. You cannot tell you that your going to gain 10 or 15 hp from no damn intake. I did a swiss cheese thing on my old box at one point and it still felt the same. And for the price of one that goes to the fender it dosen't seem worth it. But but the flip side some people do swear by them and have teh best of luck.
But all hands down if you ever want to show your car you are going to have to get some sort of intake and not just put a cone filter on the orginal tube.
As far as puttin on directly on the tb, I wouldn't suggest it because of room, and for that matter looks.
2 Each is own though

Does anyone have any experience with using the RAM Air Kit II with a Weapon-R intake?
