Wipers are working strange. They don't work with truck running. With engine off key in on position wiper in fast postion they are working like in slow position. I changed ignition switch, wiper switch, and relays.Still same problem.I was told it could be G.E.M. Could anyone tell me what this is?

GEM is the General Electronics Module. It is behind the radio in the dash. It controls the wipers, interior courtesy lamps, warning chines, and four wheel drive. If it fails the driver one-touch window down will not work.

If all the other systems work, then the GEM -may- be ok. I think a new one is over 350.00 - it will pay to find a detail wiring diagram for the wipers, and do a little troubleshooting.

Alldatadiy.com costs about 25.00 for a one year subscription, and has good wiring diagrams as well as manual testing procedures.

If you determine that the GEM is indeed the problem, get the part number off the one you have, and find one at a salvage yard. They do not fail very often, a used one should be ok. Expect to pay 1/4 the price of a new one, or less.

IS it the black box beside the radio with a lot of wires going to it?
