anyone, i have no problem doing the work, i am just not fimilar with this engines internals, I havent inspected it yet but i believe the timing chain broke, its in a 91 Lumina. its a 2.5 4 cyl.
And i havent any spec. books on it either.
I need to know where the timing marks (cam and crank gear) sit when putting on a chain.
Plus, is this, and i hope not, a interfearence engine?
Are there any "watch out for's" with this engine?
thanks

It's been a lot of years, but I kinda remember that this engine doesn't use a chain. I think it's a two-gear drive, with the upper gear being a phenolic plastic-kinda stuff.

Boy do I remember that gear drive set up, couldn't keep up with replacing them for nosie then breakage, anyway the 91 2.5 is a chain motor.

Yeah its a chain engine, that was the fix for the gear drive. I went ahead and took it apart, chain broken, tensioner in pieces. Not bad to work on though, about 100.00 to fix myself. I cant complain though, car has 207,000 miles on it and not a bolt has ever been out of the engine. I just need it a couple more months till i get my Z24 put back together.
