My 1998 a6 quattro was running fine until Sunday. I started it up first turn backed it up 4 ft and turned it off. When i went to start it up an hour later no dice. I thought maybe battery so i tried a jump. THought maybe i fouled the plugs by not letting it run for more than a minute, no dice agian. when i crank it over i get a spark at all the plug wires when grounded. I smell fuel so it seems like it's getting fuel. Any ideas. if i crank it over for around 15 seconds it acts like it want to start more and more and then acts flooded. I put 6 new plugs in just in case and nothing different.

Any advice would help.
Thanks.

Replace your engine coolant temperature sensor and o-ring. Remove the fuel pump fuse and crank the car for 15-30sec. Put fuel pump fuse back in. Hold gas pedal down halfway and crank car untill it starts. It sounds like you did foul the plugs and now the car is flooded. The engine coolant temperature sensor tells the engine control module how much fuel to give on start-up. They commonly fail and cause hard or no start conditions.
