hey im a young newbie in modeling but a sucker for detail .. does anyone know of how to create a custom roll cage or are there parts to buy ... i just bought an r33 skyline gtr model by tamiya and i want a roll cage in it .. if anyone has any links or advice .. please let me know .. thanks

Well the easiest way its to piece together a cage from a racing car kit, but there are various ways to make your own. The best thing I can tell you is be creative. :)

see my first thoughts were to use the scrap trees left from the model and paint them the color i want the cage to be

I built one for a small 1:43 scale kit and just used excess kit sprue like you were thinking. It worked fine, quite a bit easier than you might think. Just measure things out and make sure it's all square and you'll be OK.

Another thought is to use solder. I have some thick solder that would work good for making a roll cage. You'll need to use CA glue to join the pieces though.

I've even heard of people using vaious types of spaghetti (yes, that's what I said), but haven't tried it myself.

also if you want some seariuse realisome you can get some thin metal rods and bend and solder it together.

thanks you guys, ill try both the sprues and solder and once i get it complete i will try my best to post some pics .. i just gotta get my broke ass to get a camera haha
