oil pump 1987 ranger

Do i have to pull the engine on a 87 ranger 4x4 2.9 V6 to change out the oil pump?

Nah, the easiest way is to unbolt the motor mounts, and lift the engine far enough so you can place 2X4 blocks in between the motor mount and the engine. Then just unbolt the oilpan to gain access.
