Leaf springs

I was wondering how many people had a problem with noticeable sag in the rear driver side of their explorers. After looking at mycarstats.com (thanks for the site gtmud) I found out it is not an uncommon thing. I had to replace both of mine as the driver side had a leaf in the pack break. But even after brand new leaf springs there is still a sag. Any way does anyone know how or where to lodge an official complaint? And would everyone who has a problem be willing to step forward with it? And if anyone has solved this problem I would like to hear about it. Well thank your for your time.

Helper springs will fix the sagging, also spray some WD-40 in the sptings, mounts and bushings, it will free up the crud inbetween the leafs and give you some rideheight back almost instantly.

Its neat to watch it raise upin a matter of seconds.

Edit, worked on my 92 s-10 blazer, didnt see this was the ferd section.

My wife has a 2001 Explorer Sport with 57,000 miles. The vehicle has never been on rough roads or been overloaded. The rear sags as compared with other Sports. I have replaced the rear springs with new OEM springs and Monroe heavy duty shocks. Neither has fixed the problem.

I finally broke the code!!! after changing to new OEM leaf springs and Monroe shocks that did not help! I ordered the 1.25" Lift Shackles, P/N 153, from Warrior, Inc. Ph (503) 691-8915 and installed them yesterday and the 2001 Ford Explorer SAGGING Rear End is GONE! If you order them tell them to send the correct size bolts and nuts. They sent me a size toooooo large. The old bolts are too short to use with the new shackle. Hope this helps before you get too far into changing parts.

I have been told that they will not interchange by part number. I still think it is the fact that the front end is too high.

is there a way to lower the front to compensate ?

i have 15X8 rims with 255/60- 15 so if i did lower it it would look better. now it looks like the tires are to small but they are the right size to keep the speedo right.

Someone emailed us a quote of this thread, and I thought I would chime in a little here...

To clarify this, when the shackle was first produced, we tried to make a 3/4" bolt work but quickly learned that it would not. So instead we went out and found the 18mm bolt that is the same size as the factory bolt, only longer to suit the new shackle.

If you received the wrong mounting hardware, one of two things happened. You either received one of the original packagings with the wrong bolts, or the Warrior dealer you purchased them from used the bolts for something else and then replaced them with the wrong size.

Either way, this packaging error was quickly corrected and in the future shouldn't really be a problem

You're gonna want either a #153 or #353. The difference is in the coating, 153 is hammertone grey powder coating, and 353 is gold zinc plating.

Here's a link to them from one of our dealers that does online orders.
