Hey,

My insurance wont cover me on my 95 lex sc300 anymore, so I think ima buy a q45. (1990-1992 likely)

Anyways some questions.
1) what is the engine code for the q45, and does it share this engine with any other nissan cars?
2)Engine wise what kind of aftermarket support is there for the car? Any superchargers? Any companies that specialize specifically in infiniti performance (like in lexus we have toyomoto.com)?
Also are headers, exhaust, tourque convertors easy to find?
3) The HP/Tourqe numbers on the q45 are impressive to say the least, but, does it FEEL like a 280 hp / 300 lb torque car or not because of the weight? Also how fast is it off the line? (I come from owning 2 automatic lexuses so im not expecting much off the line)
4) Will it fit 19's stock? And will I be able to drop it without it rubbing? (Ive got my eyes on a pair of moda R6's.)

And if you could post any links to good infiniti aftermarket parts websites / info websites id love that.

Thanx

Jason

I have a 1994 Q45.

The 1990 to 1993 have some serious issues with timing chain guides coming apart, and trashing the engine. Anywhere near 100k, they MUST be changed, no questions, period! Some fail at 80K, and others wait til 120K, but ALL fail, period!

In 1994, Nissan changed the guides, and they will last well past 200K (I have 177K on mine).

Not much for HP gains, except for a reprogrammed ECU and TCU for higher redline, and remapping the fuel ratios. I have heard about 30 to 40 HP gains. A K&N POP Charger gains about 5 HP, and any exhasut modifications will gain very little, on the high-end, and do nothing but hurt the bottom-end torque.

My car will beat any stock Lexus made, from 45 MPH & up. Off the line, it is close, but once my car hits about 4500 RPM, it is gone. Top end is recorded at 158. I have been 142, still pulling storng, and still in third. Didn't want to shift into 4th, with so many miles on the car.

I have 17" wheels, with 255/45/17 tires(Konig Divas and Sumitomo HTR+), and a few others have 18", but I have not seen a 19" wheel on the car. The car is very heavy, and I coubt there is a tire out there, that can handle the load rating (98W), and still stay close to the correct diameter (26.1") You can go a little bigger, but not if you lower the car.

Eibach makes dropped springs for the car, and it looks good. I do not have them, because I like my ride.

I have a modified 2000 Maxima Front Strut Tower brace, and it helps tighten the steering.

I also have a set of Tokiko "Blues" for replacement struts, but have not put them on, yet.

The "t" model and "a" models have rear sway bars, that help the handling. I plan to add one of these, soon.

Definitely look into the NICO website. There are 12,000 members, and several Infiniti specific forums. www.nissaninfiniticlub.net

They have a few sponsors that deal in aftermarket prducts. You can spend days reading the posts about the engines. Use the "search" button. It is great. There are severa lmster mechanics that are members, and you will get about 40 replys to this same question, on that site.

Good luck. The Q is definitely a sleeper. My insurance is roughly $60 a month, for full coverge, and $500 deductible.

hey, i am looking to buy this car, same year as ^^^^^^^ and i hope to find info on it, like oil change avg price, battery price, fuel type, all the little things you dont think about when you are looking at the car. does the car handle like a rwd car or is it heavy enough to stick to the road, but powerfull enough to get it sideways? also any tips on these cars, like performance up grades or body kits(i cant seem to find any). any way thanks for your help.
