Trying to instal an alpine 9830 into a nissan altima

got the wire harness adaptor for factory to aftermarket. There's no ground from the factory side so i tried grounding to the chasie. No luck have all wires hooked up. I have a free orange and blue on the aftermarket side. tried hooking the black up to that still nothing. I accidently hit the yellow and red together while doing this and the cd player comes on!! pull them apart goes back off... so i'm like wtf mate. leave em together start the car. works ok. turn the lights on poof blow a couple fuses and cd player no worky. tried doing same thing after wards still works without those fuses (touching the red and yellow together) but... this will not work for obvious reasons.

help!!

Disconnect the orange wire (It's orange on the aftermarket adapter) and tape it up so it can't touch anything. The orange wire is supposed to control radio illumination and dimming. I've had problems from park lights staying on to parklight and headlight fuses blowing because of this wire.

OK, lemme back track. You have the red wire hooked to something with 12v all the time, and the yellow one to accessory? Also, where are you grounding? I would find a good ground somewhere besides the dash. Lots of dash's aren't grounded well. If this doesn't work......I dunno

Where was the factory head unit grounded? It was most likely grounded through the vehicle wiring...

i don't know where it was grounded... all the wires are colored different...
where the black is on the aftermarket side there's no corrisponding wire on the factory side.

i have it grounded to the metal plate that keeps water out of my shifter area
