tie rod ends

Anyone know what a good price to pay for getting my tie rod ends fixed/replaced? $400? $800? More?
I have an 89 Formula.

change them yourself there fairly easy and it would save you a whole lot of money i just did mine on my 94 bird and it took maybe 35 mins per side.

I agree with change them yourself. You can probably purchase them for less than $50 each and you will need only some basic hand tools to change them. Just don't forget to have it aligned after you change them.

I was thinking of doing it myself, but someone told me that if I screw them up, I'll need to get a tow to a repair shop to fix my mess.
How difficult of a job is it? I'm no Mr. Goodwrench, but I know my way around a tool box, and I have bloodied my knuckles plenty of times under the hood. Is it harer than a brake job? Harder then removing a radiator?

No! If you can do the brakes you can change the tie rods.

the only tool i didnt have when i did mine was a small two jaw puller but you can get those at any auto parts store for cheap and my tie rod ends only cost i think like $37 each. while you do those i would check your ball joints also.

It's up to you, but remember that you will need to have it aligned anyway so it has to go to the shop at some point. The parts themselves should be no more than $80 or so for both. To have it done by a shop should be about $200 or less, plus the cost of alignment. If you do it yourself, get a Haynes or Chilton repair manual for the car at the parts store so you know what your doing.
