we got a crap load of rain. small amounts of rain threatens our shop of flooding....we spent 9 days defending flooding just to have a several inches dump in 1 day. we ended up with an average of 1/2 foot up to as much as a full foot of water inside our shop. we had to rent a pump that was capable of 6000 gal per hour...it took almost 3 hrs before the water level was low enough outside to start removing the water inside...
to make it all even more fun a 1/2 filled oli catch pan floated around until it bumped into something and tipped over.
i am happy to report no customer's cars were damaged however, my 01 ITR ended up with water on the floor behind the drivers seat :banghead:
today is the first day we've been able to move around inside the shop.

damn that really sucks.. if ur area is prone to flooding.. did u ever check into getting a pump installed? i dont know too much about them but i got family close to a river that has a pump installed in the basement.. something to look into considering u prolly got alot invested in that shop.

The only thing about them is that it pumps the water out somewhere else. So if the whole area is flooded, it will just push the water back out and come in again.

well what im talking about is built into the ground and pumps the water into the sewer system.. which could also be flooded out.. who knows i never dealt with that kind of situation..im sure the sewers cant cope with the increase volume of water and addition to all the illegal connections hooked up to it in the first place. we dont have flooding problems around here.

our area of oregon doesn't generally flood. our building is on the low spot of the parking lot and the drain is at the corner of our building. the guy who owns the building gave us a pump. we spent 9 days of watching the level of water...if you don't keep an eye it will flood or vice versa you have to watch the pump so it doesn't run dry. unfortunatly for us it finally dumped more than our pump could keep up....we finally had to rent the big dog to handle business.
our neighbor's basements flooded and several streets were closed so i can't blame the building's owner
my shop is located in one of the best spots on the corner of 2 major streets. however, my building is the only place in this lot that threatens to flood everytime it rains. a double edge sword :shakehead
