okay, im trying to change the bearings in 98 elantra, and ive been told 2 separte things, and was wondering if someone could clear this up for me...#1 i was told that i would have to drop the upper and lower ball joints to get at the bearing?? like that makes any sense, but then the second theory was machining on and off, and 3rd was its just a screw that hold everything in place, before i go and get myself head long in to a wild mess, has anyone ever done a bearing on one of these?

You never said front or rear. I'm assuming since you mentioned the ball joints, that you are talking about the fronts. You will have to take the front knuckle off the car and have the old bearings pressed out, and the new ones pressed in.
