Leaking fluid

I am leaking some black inky fluid near the rear of my engine. I have a 98 2WD Astro with 87,000. It started leaking upon returning from a 235 mile trip home from my in-laws. Prior to that - nothing. There are no codes being thrown, and no indication of any problems from my instrument panels. I checked the oil level and it is fine and seems clear. But the stuff dripping to the cement is very thick black lube. Anyone have any ideas where this is coming from?

Is it dripping off the engine or the transmission?
Is your transmission fluid still clear?

I believe it is from engine. My brother guaranteed me that it is oil not tranny fluid. I do need to get my trans flushed and filled and I was planning on doing that this month. Now this....

Looks like the rear crankshaft seal is leaking. I suggest you do both the front and rear crankshaft seals at the same time, as they are likely to fail at about the same time.
