My 99 Beetle was overheating. The fan was not working. When I checked the fuse in the circuit box on top of the battery it was melted all around the fuse. Any ideas on what caused this?

also problably a bad coolant fan control module (located under the battery tray)

Is that the same thing as the auxilary fan control unit? and how would I know if it is bad or not?

from the fuse being melted or the fans can also cause the fuse to melt
