Ive got an 04 silverado with the 16 inch snowflake looking wheels, I want to change to the 05 17 inch with the strait spokes.
how would I recalibrate my speedometer?

Well your wheels don't really have anything to do with your speedometer. It would all depend on what size tires you put on the new rims. If you go bigger than stock you can take it to a dealer and they can program your pcm to the new size.....the dealer here said they would do it for about $45 but it varies by location. If you put the same outside diameter tire on the bigger rim than you should be ok.

If you dont go up more than a size or so from stock, it really shouldnt be too big of in issue. I went from a 265/70 or 75 on the factory 17", to a 305/50 on a 20". Which equated to a diameter increase of 1/2 inch or so and it only threw my speedo off 1 mph at 60. here is a link to a calculator to help tell where you sit. Also has a couple other cool calculators.

Not be rude, but if you have more than one question to ask post them in one thread instead of a bunch of individuals.

I tried getting my speedo recalibrated at the dealer and they said they could only do it if the tire size i was using was an option for the truck from factory.

I think the 17s were optional on some 04 models
