parking brake malfunction

The parking brake won't work on my 01 Suburban 2WD and the cable adjustment is tightened all the way. The dealer couldn't find any recalls or service bulletins pertaining to this for my VIN. I heard that some type of clip fails in the wheel assembly which prevents the adjuster from compensating as the pads wear. Does anyone know what that clip is called or where I can get a couple? The dealer parts-counter guy had no idea. Thanks

After tearing into it I discovered that the parking brake pads were completely worn out and one of the drums was also destroyed. Apparently the adjuster either overadjusted or the previous owner drove it around with the brake on. I find the latter hard to imagine.

theyre delicate suckers, anything other than stopped application has a tendency to kill em.

OE parking brake shoes come with the updated clip to prevent shoe binding.

are the shoes adjusted right ont he thing? the one i adjusted was on a silverado but i imagine its the same deal. they had me tighten the shoes so the wheel wouldnt turn. then i had to back em off a bit.
