I don't know how to address you's guys any other way.
Please erase if not allowed.

I know this is probably a big deal to ask, but how difficult
and/or expensive would it be to have a Spell Checker working
with this forum when writing in the message portion of it?

I notice quite a lot of typos and bad spelling.

Just a thought.

A spell checker on a forum of this size would eat a TON of CPU time. It would also probably be a HUGE pain to program into what looks like PHP. Perhaps the users should have invested more time into school or typing classes? :icon16:

Hey doc as one of the guys you are refering to I try to do my best but I can t change the fact that I went to school in my home country and came here 12 years ago maby my son will do better in spelling than me but I am proud that I self tought myself to read and write english , and don t have tens of thousand of dollars to go to college again here, don t forget that almost half of this country is first generation of immigrants and that there are still pure blooded americans who don t know to read or write at least as bad as me plus I still manage to speak decently italian and french besides english and my native language ( romanian), don t get me wrong I just try to defend myself.
It would be a time killer to read proof with a spell checker all my e mails(some I do) and posts in all the forums even do if it is available I will use it.
And don t forget that one of the best qualityes of this great country is tolerance toward your human fellow.
In the perfect world everybody will have the perfect credit score and the perfect running Geo but is not the case and we don t live in one.
Now I bet that there are at least 5 typos in my post :p .
All I am tryng to say doc is come on cut us some slack.

First - there is nothing wrong with doing your best! Do it!

Second - there is every reason to give a good image of one's self!

Third - Tolerance is just fine. Expecting improvement is also good.

Fourth - The world is obviously very far from perfect, but it won't
get any better if we don't try to improve it.

Fifth - Sure I'll cut you some slack.
Will the guy you are applying for a job with cut you some slack?
I really doubt that! Unless management is Cheech & Chong!
If you can fool him/her into thinking you are erudite and intelligent
by speaking and writing well - Bingo!
You got the job! Even if you are clueless.

Sixth - I'll take that 'fifth' and go out on the back porch and smoke a
cigar while drinking it….. Is there any ice around...?

Sorry - guilty also. When I have time I simply key the reply into word run a spell check and copy into the forum. If I'm short on time I simply type fast and this results in spelling errors. This has nothing to do with whether one can spell or not. It looks like this forum uses Vbulletin – a software package that runs a forum like this. I do not know too much about it but as pointed out it probably runs as a PHP script and unless this facility is built into the software which the moderators can turn on, someone will have to write or insert as spelling script to do this. And as for the CPU – spell checking as is other word processing tasks are not really very CPU intensive and depending on the speed of the machines they are using it should be quite feasible to do this.
