Hi, my 1999 Contour SVT, has 120,000 miles on it. Ford told me that to replace all of them along with a sensor will cost 2400.00.
I took the car to my local Shell mechanic who said that it needs two converters. The cost w/part and labor is around $900.00.
Two Questions:
1. Does the cost seem reasonable.
2. Does anyone have experience purchasing after marker Cat Converters?
Any web or link would be appreciated to purchase them.
Regards,

Yeah, thats about right. There are 2 precats and one main cat. The precats cost over $800 alone since they are part of the exhaust manifold. The main cat is probably $300-400 from the dealership. There are three 02 sensors which will run you about $70 a piece. Factor in who knows how much labor (anywhere from 4-12 hours) and your looking at right around $2400.
If it were me, I would just buy a set of MSDS headers which are not only cheaper but will give about 15 hp. You can get them for as little as $200 new for the set. If you get a MSDS y-pipe its another $155. If you want ceramic coating thats extra. If you go this route, youll still need a new cat which you can get at trubendz.com which is a direct bolt up for $145 shipped.

If you want to save $10, you can get a trubendz y-pipe with integrated cat if you dont want the MSDS headers one which is pictured below.

So, your options are:
Option 1: MSDS Headers,MSDS y-pipe,and Trubendz cat
Option 2: MSDS Headers and Trubendz y-pipe and cat

Over on contour.org, we give MSDS headers a lot of business so they give CEG members a 15% from time to time. Not to mention, the forums over there are 1000 times better than AF. Ive been over there for about 6 years now and just frequent over here to help guys like you out. Anyways, check the group buy section over on the forums and dig up the thread. Btw, if you didn't read the Spring Zing thread stickied at the top you should check it out. Marty at MSDS is donating a full set of ceramic coated headers and y-pipe to be given away this year which is a $735 value.
